Templates#
Templates are pre-made books. They are a great way to start a new project — rather than starting with a blank page, you can start with a dummy text, images, structure, and more.
Documatt comes with a few pre-made templates to help you get started. More templates are planned soon.
Template ≠ theme#
Templates are very different from themes. In a nutshell:
A template is a collection of files (Markdown or reStructuredText documents, images, etc.) used as an example or a showcase.
A theme is a style (appearance) independent of any book and usable across many books.
When authoring a book using a markup like Markdown or reStructuredText, you don’t care about the styles. They come “later” when you are about to publish a book.
However, similar to templates, there are a few pre-made themes to choose from.
Create a book from a template#
The Templates view is a starting point if you want to create a new book from a template. It’s a three-step wizard asking you
